Experience Unmatched Golfing in Scenic Hermanus

Hermanus, a picturesque fishing village on the Cape South Coast, is renowned for its annual Southern Right whale visitors, who return to calve in its sheltered waters. During holiday seasons, this tranquil town of 8,000 swells to over 40,000, drawing Capetonians and tourists alike. Amid this buzz, the Hermanus Golf Club has consistently upheld its reputation for year-round excellence, thanks to its skilled management team.

In 2006, the course was transformed with the addition of nine new holes, complementing a nearby real estate development. Originally designed by Bob Grimsdell, the course retained its classic charm while embracing modern upgrades led by South Africa’s top golf architect, Peter Matkovich. His redesign enhanced the natural beauty of the mountain and sea views, adding striking water features, rocky accents, and grassy mounds for both visual appeal and a greater challenge.

The upgrades included world-class greens and bunkers, while the lengthened course offers a rewarding experience for golfers of all levels. Thoughtfully integrated real estate pockets enhance the surroundings without disrupting the course’s charm, making it a desirable destination for both residents and visitors.

Hermanus is also celebrated as the premier spot for land-based whale watching. Its annual Whale Festival attracts thousands of visitors, who gather to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. With its stunning golf course, natural beauty, and vibrant festivals, Hermanus continues to captivate all who visit.
